Port St. Lucie, FL (December 2023) – Inspiring Warriors Golf held another successful mission in South Florida in a quest to use golf as a vehicle for healing but physical and invisible wounds
Hosted by the PGA Golf Club in the PGA of America’s home course in Port St. Lucie. Director of Golf Holly Taylor and her incredible staff rolled out the red carpet to our wounded, and it was sensational. Trump International in West Palm Beach once again hosted us and John Nieporte and his team treated us to a day none will ever forget.
We added some instructors this mission, and what a group of PGA Professionals is was. True legends in the game of golf!!! Bob Ford, Bob Dolan, Rob Schaal, Steve Parker, Mark Guttenberg, Leslie Guttenberg, and host PGA Professional Russ Holden all gave instruction and then some. They were joined by University of Tennessee golfer Kayla Holden who also added her expertise to the game and showered each and every veteran with some sweetness and special care for their golf.
The guest speakers were again immensely impactful. Steven Yellin is a world renown sports psychologist and gave an incredible education seminar. Russ and Kayla Holden taught the warriors about Golf Forever and the use of a Rypstick for more distance and consistency. Dan Boever put on a show one night with ALL the PGA Golf Professionals in a fireside chat that we are still giggling about as well as still in awe with the wealth of knowledge that was in that room. Dennis Walters once again inspired us beyond belief with his incredible World Golf Hall of Fame show. Dan Boever also did his magic with gifts unlike anyone else in the world of golf.
Jeremy Garard gave one of the finest presentations on overcoming adversity any of us have ever heard. Still in awe of what he said and added to our wounded.
Kevin Weaver highlighted our dinner together with a great presentation on The Warrior’s Journey. The work they do is so vital to the life of a veteran post service. It was so incredibly wonderful to hear this organization while in the company of these brave wounded veterans.
Our week closed with Blue Angels pilot John “Gucci” Foley. Gucci came in early and got to spend time with the wounded the entire week, and bonded with them like a true veteran fighter pilot can do. His demeanor, his spirit, and his intense desire to assist was utterly amazing. His keynote closing speech touched the lives and hearts of everyone in attendance and made an impact that will take years to measure fully. GLAD TO BE HERE is the mantra of the Blue Angels, and Gucci has adopted this and made it relevant to each of us and it was overwhelmingly obvious to all that we were indeed, “Glad to be Here.”
Once again President Trump welcomed our veterans with open arms. While he was not able to be in attendance that day, he sent a personal message through Director of Golf and terrific guy John Nieporte that was simply awesome to our wounded veterans.
Golf. The places you go, the people you meet, the lessons you learn.
